Wisconsin Opens 100 Ethanol Fueling Stations
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
Wisconsin Ag Connection -- The Menomonie Cenex is giving away free gift cards with qualified purchases of 85 percent ethanol fuel as part of a statewide celebration taking place this week to recognize ethanol's contribution to the state's improved air quality. During the Menomonie event, the first 100 Flex Fuel Vehicle owners who purchase 10 gallons or more of E85 between 10 a.m. and noon on Tuesday, May 20 at the Menomonie Cenex will receive a $20 fuel card good toward their next fill up. Additional events are planned throughout the week, as a coalition of groups celebrate the opening of 100 E85 fueling stations in Wisconsin and mark the 100th anniversary of the American Lung Association of the upper Midwest.

THERE IS A LONG TERM FALLACY IN THE BELOW APPROACH - BUT, IT SHOULD HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE SHORT

AND INTERMEDIATE TERM !

ANYWAY - IT WILL MAKE US ALL FEEL GOOD !

FINALLY - THERE WAS A VIDEO OF THE CITGO 'DICTATOR' THAT IMPLIED AND BASICALLY SAID HE WOULD

'BREAK' THIS COUNTRY THROUGH GAS PRICES ! AS THE OPEC GAS COUNTRIES SET GAS PRICES HIGHER AND

HIGHER - HE MAY BE RIGHT.WHERE TO BUY YOUR USA-GAS, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. READ ON--
Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it.
It might even be good for us!

The Saudis are boycotting American goods.

We should return the favor.

An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS.
Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi

Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis. Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending

my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas

from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil.

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell..................205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco.........144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil...........130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway......117,740,000 barrels
Amoco..................62,231,000 barrels

Citgo Gas comes from South America , from a Dictator who hates Americans.
Do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (Oil is now over $130 a barrel)

Here are some large companies that
DO NOT import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco...............0 barrels
Conoco...............0 barrels
Sinclair.............0 barrels
BP/Phillips..........0 barrels
Hess.................0 barrels
ARC0. ...............0 barrels
Also: Pilot, Flying J, Love's, RaceTrac, Valero

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy
and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much
they are importing.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers.

I see the ethanol detractors are hard at work. I filled up with E85 today. $2.779/gal. 105 octane fuel made from USA field corn. Don't try to eat field corn at home. You'll get a gut ache. Stick with sweet corn for human consumption. Getting same MPG in my converted 1978 engine as with 87 octane gasoline but the engine has more torque and runs so much smoother with E85. When I build a high compression engine for ethanol I'll get much better mileage than you gas burners. Been running E85 in my 4 stroke lawnmowers for a year now. They havn't blown up yet. Don't believe all the positive information out there about ethanol fuel though. You keep swallowing the propaganda that ethanol is evil and I'll keep showing off the superiority of ethanol motor fuel.

I recently saw one of the new Chevy Taho hybrids, almost $50,000. So if the pump does not get you, then the manufacturer will.

Is anyone going to ask the question of what is used to make the ethanol from that these stations will be selling? Is it food, or is it something none food related, like switch grass.

Ethanol, especially from corn, is a political boondoggle being forced on us by our paid-off politicians. Stop the madness. It's only benefiting a few farmers, the politicians and the lobbyists.

Use non food as a base for the fuel so it doesn't compete with food prices.

Make ethanol using NON FOOD sources.
There are many possible sources available and by not using food crop lands to grow it either.
Limit the import of OPEC oil.

Regardless of how one feels about biofuels in general and ethanol in particular, it's only logical that there are more stations selling it as more and more cars can use up to E85 or even B100 biodiesel.

what ever happened to Montana's coal gasification project? they were producing gasoline for $0.50 a gallon and we have over 300 years of coal in this country alone.

I agree with the poster who says we should stop the ethanol subsidy. This makes us pay twice - first with our taxes to support the subsidy and second with high food prices since it is cheaper for farmers to sell us ethanol than food.
