The N.Y. International Auto Show: High-tech under the hood
Friday, March 28, 2008
Computerworld -- March 24, 2008 (Computerworld) It's 2008 already. Didn't the magazines promise us flying cars by now?

Actually, there is some cool upcoming technology at the New York International Auto Show this year (which runs March 21-30 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center). However, most of it is under the hood rather than on display.

JimL1 . . . your posting noted. Well said, expecially your comment: "... we listen to them whine about their problems and we think, solve them, and enjoy life more....".

Re: the article ... simply reports on technology becoming available. A jaundiced viewpoint is not appropriate.

The only things I saw, were a couple of hydrogen based vehicals, and one electric. They really need an electric which has a rapid recharge (say 5 mins). This is very do-able. But it takes a really big power cord, such as 200 AMP 220 Volt. That wouldn't take long to give 50 KW.

tankereric08, a Rookie Author from San Bernardino posted: "I just like most Americans, are a bunch of herded sheep. Millionares will look down at the valley's and suburb's and laugh. We will make them richer.
For example:::: Country wide executives received millions in payouts while losing billions.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The two top executives at struggling Countrywide Financial Corp., the nation's largest mortgage lender, are slated to receive a combined $19 million in payouts, a regulatory filing shows."

My Response:

I am not one of those sheep. My wife and I have greatly reduced our fuel consumption, by driving less and when we do drive we drive very conservatively. We have greatly cut our fuel expenditures and it has cost us next to nothing in time. We will get there within a few seconds or minutes of the time it used to when we drove very aggressively, so time is not really an issue.

We now have two gardens and a greenhouse in the city, we now compost, and do other things to cut our costs and improve our quality of life. As the high cost of fuel creates havoc for those who will not think out of the box to solve the problems of life, we listen to them whine about their problems and we think, solve them, and enjoy life more.

As for those two top thieves (excuse me I should have said executives) at struggling Countrywide, their time will come. What goes around still comes around. There is still either Karma or What they sow is what they will reap. It may take time but it will come. Remember, "He/She who laughs last, laughs best."

What a waste of space. No mention of improved milage. I wonder what happens to the people on the two seated when it's the middle car of a three car pile-up?
