The Clean Energy Election

Huffington Post -- The week made it official: the 2012 election will be the first in American history to be driven by the nexus between innovation, clean energy, manufacturing and the role of the federal government in shaping the economy. The president followed up his State of the Union message with a thematically reinforcing budget and visits to "in-sourcing" manufacturing facilities -- staking out his territory. The Republicans responded with their refusal to extend the Production Tax Credit for the wind industry and House passage of legislation making Congress, not the Executive Branch, the permitting agency for the oil industry's pet Keystone XL Export Pipeline. It's clear that the Tea Party GOP's response is simple: "Hell, no, we won't let the federal government spark a manufacturing and economic reviv

Clean energy is the way to go for our energy needs.

Tehbob: why does it seem like the republicans are being such idiots?

Anyone who is anti-science will, by definition, be an idiot. Which of the presidential contender for president accepts evolution as the scientific explanation for the origin of the species? Pres Obama and ex-Republican candidate Huntsman. That leaves the rest of them as total idiots.

Perhaps that's the reason you have such an opinion.

So where are the people calling for politically slanted hit pieces to be removed? Oh that's right it's only okay when they shill for your POV.

We need to think about tomorrow but take care of today. That means using what we have until the tech is ready which it won't be for a while. And it never will be while people are using it to beat others over the head with to control them and as the scam of the day.

Not that I care one whit about anything the Huff huffs (which I don't), or that anything the Huff huffs has any relevancy or truth (which it doesn't)...

...but getting to your comment, dgerst...

let those who wish cast their clean-energy, single-issue vote for Obama. This coming election cycle has so much more to do with the economy; clean energy will be relegated to a distant sideline issue.

In fact, the clean-energy push by this president is a major reason this economy remains in the doldrums and a large percentage remain unemployed and underemployed; and that those with jobs are seeing the spending power of their dollars squeezed. That is why this administration's clean-energy policies will be a contributing factor for his loss this November.

bigt61 - astute observation and comment.

What a joke and a ridiculous attempt to divert attention from the real issues at hand. The economy and the future of this great Republic.

Expect to see an onslaught of this type of diversion in the future. The most recent example is the issue where government is trying to force its morals or lack of them on everyone with the birth control topic.

People do not realize or remember this is what happened in the period leading up to WW II in Germany. They first had to neutralize religion and essentially remove the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech.

The sanctimonious all knowing liberal - like green energy and the environment is the only thing that matters in this election. Newsflash Carl - we're broke!!! And the moron in charge is borrowing like there's no tomorrow. What does he care? He'll retire to the speech circuit (the only thing he's barely good at, but extremely tiresome) and make his millions. The head dope is set for life, the rest of us actually have to pay our bills. How about we save the world and the environment after we save our economy? When we have money to blow, we'll blow it on your stupid lefty priorities. Until then, go save another Snail Darter without bothering anybody and eat your tofu.

With clean energy in the State of the Union address and in the 2013 Budget means that those who support Clean Energy will almost certainly vote for Obama in November.
