Cheaper gas prices can be found in Capital Region
Saturday, October 04, 2008
Capital News -- CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- In this economy, everyone love's falling gas prices. On Friday, Stewart’s Shops around the Capital Region lowered their pump prices across the board by 10 cents. The price of barrel of crude oil is down to under $94 after reaching a high of almost $150 in June. After months of a wild gasoline market, the convenience store chain says they're seeing a pattern that suggests the speculative gas bubble may have burst.

"lets get all the prices to continually fall until all stations are under $2 a gallon"

Not gonna happen. Wouldn't be prudent.....

Now that's a trend I like to see. This will probably do more to stimulate
the economy than the bail out package.

In General I agree with you mahenv7, we need to change our habits and how we use all forms of energy. And look for good alternative sources of energy. But I don't think it helps to bring the oil companies into this discussion. Whether you realize it or not most Americans have an investment in energy companies, whether through their 402(k)'s, IRA's or other investments. You might have a mutual fund in your plan that invests in Energy Companies and you are benefiting from their profits.

Drilling offshore or in ANWR will *ONLY* enrich the Big Oil Companies and not make any difference you might notice at the pump... it is like asking a brewery to give away its beer rather than sell it to people who will buy... any new oil goes into the GLOBAL MARKET, and globally, people are used to $10/gallon and have changed driving habits to smaller efficient vehicles and they actively pursue alternatives...

Unlike in the US, where the addicts scream and whine, wanting a cheaper fix, with little incentive to change

It seems the gas prices are going down in most parts of the country with some exceptions. Keep on conserving and using less energy in all forms.

Still not even close to the current par price of $60 per barrel, let the speculators collapse their investments, and don't even think of "bailing them out" too!

Some parts of Chicagoland are finally dropping closer to the national average. I paid 3.68 for my last fillup which was .10 cents cheaper than most station in the area. I'd love 3.37.

Well, I finally found gas for $3.37 in my immediate area. And to think I was feeling a little better on Friday when I fueled up when I paid $3.41!!
It seriously needs to go down further. I heard on NPR that oil was down below $90 this morning.

Here in Dallas the average is still around $3.42 or so. It should still drop dramatically as Winter sets in. Nationally, it should stabilize around $2.90- 2.80

wow gas was 4+ a gallon now its around 3 a gallon no kidding it burst. but how often has some said 2.90 a gallon is cheap. from 1980-2000 1.00-1.50ish per gallon, 20 years. In recent years been going up about 50-75 cents per year. WTF.
